Document Control Supervisor

Summary       
MTI’s Document Control Supervisor is responsible for managing, coordinating and directing the operations of the company’s document control system and department employee(s). Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Develops the document control management system; implements process improvement initiatives when needed
  • Writes/revises or improves Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the document control processes
  • Responsible for the oversight of the organizations Engineering Change Order (ECO) process
  • Responsible for managing flow with-in process and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Responsible for maintaining electronic master documentation including but, not limited to electronic logs, controlled documents, templates, and related records
  • Ensures processed documents are complete, concise, accurate, and conform to established formats
  • Evaluates and develops improved techniques for the control of documents
  • Manages departmental workflow and performance to meet critical deadlines
  • Directly responsible for implementation, maintenance and reporting on performance of the company document control system
  • Acts as a “Super User” resource for ERP Doc Control Modules.  Expected to be a key member of the ERP team.  Responsible for providing ERP training/mentoring.
  • Responsible for recruitment, training, coaching and mentoring and performance assessment of direct report(s)
  • Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree (preferably in Records Management or Technology related field), or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of five (5) plus years in the records management field
  • Three (3) years experience in managing technical documentation and complex activities, preferably in environments of engineering, quality or technical operations
  • Knowledge of QA and Document Control practices are a must
  • The ideal candidate has specific experience with building a strong Doc Control department and associated infrastructure
  • Understanding of MRP methodologies (any system) or an individual that can easily learn MRP terms and systems and apply that knowledge to day to day activities.
  • Can multi-task and prioritize work flow as it moves through the area
  • Retains a high level direction to improving department through the day to day activities
  • Experience working with in CAD and PDM systems
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel are required; familiarity with Microsoft Power Point and Visio preferred.
  • Strong motivation and ability to work independently in a team environment
  • Strong follow up, organization and prioritization skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and high word processing accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics is strongly preferred
  • Drafting/Design Management a plus
